There are five traffic courts in San Diego. What court your citation is filed in depends on the location of your violation and the nature of your charges. Some traffic violations may be charged as a misdemeanor or infraction. The following information relates to the majority of citations which are filed as infractions. To determine what San Diego traffic court your citation has been filed in look near the bottom of your citation and you should see an address which is checked or circled.

Parking Information: Parking is available around the court house. The parking lot is normally full in the morning by 8:45. It remains full until approximately 9:45 when it is generally available until 12:30. It remains full again until 1:45 and then becomes easily accessible again.
Best Time to Go: The best time to go to speak with the clerks is early in the morning. I would suggest getting there around 8:00 a.m. The bail office is very often empty at this time and you can be seen quickly. If you can’t make it that early, next best time would be between 12:30 and 1:30.

Parking Information: Parking is very limited at the El Cajon courthouse and you must arrive early to find parking on the premises. If you can’t find any parking at the court house you will have to search along Main Street and the surrounding area for street parking.
Best Time to Go: The best time to arrive is very early in the morning. It is very difficult to get anything done in the afternoon here because of the limited scope of the traffic calendar in this court.

Parking Information: Parking is very limited here and particularly in the morning. It gets better after 9:30 but unfortunately the only traffic calendars are in the morning. Therefore, to ensure you get parking in the parking lot I would recommend going before 8:00.
Best Time to Go. There is no best time to go. The line here is always long. I would try to go late morning, but again, there really isn’t a good time to go.

Parking Information: There is always ample parking outside the traffic court which is on the north side of the court property.
Best Time to Go: Early in the morning is likely the best time to go. They do a number system here. Therefore, you need to get there and have your number called to be seen by a clerk before you can get put in a courtroom. They have three calendars in the morning and if you are late they make you wait until the next calendar to be seen. I would suggest getting there at 8:00. The calendars are 8:15, 9:15, and 10:15.
